Berhampore hotels and Lalbagh: two places to stay
For a Murshidabad trip you choose between two bases. Berhampore, also written Baharampur or Baharampore, is the larger town on the rail line. Lalbagh is the district of Murshidabad where the Hazarduari Palace stands. The two are different places, and Berhampore is not simply another spelling of the historic city of Murshidabad.
Public tourism properties exist in both places, so you can start your search there. For private hotels and guesthouses, look in the same areas. Check the address, recent guest reviews and the exact position on a map before you book. For most visitors who arrive by the morning Hazarduari Express and want the palace district first, Lalbagh is the closer base. For most visitors who prefer a city base with a station on the line, Berhampore is the simpler choice.

Which town is the address in?
Look for Baharampur, Baharampore or Berhampore for the city, and Lalbag or Murshidabad for the palace district. Baharampur here is in West Bengal and has nothing to do with Brahmapur in Odisha.
How will you arrive?
The morning Hazarduari Express reaches Berhampore Court at about 10:00 and Murshidabad at about 10:10 in the timetable example. The Bhagirathi Express arrives after 21:30, so confirm late check-in if you take it.
What do you want to see first?

What "near" can and cannot tell you.
The Hazarduari Palace stands in Lalbagh, and the Nizamat Imambara faces it. That makes Lalbagh the natural area for a stay near the palace. An address in Lalbagh does not tell you how far the walk is, so ask the hotel for the distance and for a Toto or auto if you need one. Do not rely on a promise that every sight is within walking distance.
The Motijheel Tourism Property is in Lalbagh, in the Prakriti Tirtha area. Motijheel is also the name of a lake and park in the area, and the mosque on the western bank dates to 1750. Do not assume the property is next to the palace, and confirm the route before you travel. For a longer stay, plan a few days: a three-day, two-night program with Toto and auto for transfers shows how the sights can be spread, with Cossimbazar on arrival day, the main sights on the middle day and Khoshbagh and Plassey on the last day.

No. Baharampur (Berhampore) is in West Bengal. Brahmapur is in Odisha. Check the state in the address when you search for a room.
